Warranty Woes

Are you getting the warranty you paid for?

What are you paying for?

We see exterior building envelopes being replaced and existing damages covered up. Proper supervision, quality control, and education should never let this happen.

What we found

The inspection of a project we were called in to look at this what we found. The new siding installed and dry rot left in the walls and covered up.

Get what you paid for

Property owners deserve the work to be performed correctly and all existing damages replaced as part of their repair or new construction project. This can be replacing the siding, repairing the roof, or an addition to your existing property. This “under the skin” damage of your property can cause problems for years to come and decrease the value of your property over time. Therefore, it’s so important to have the repairs completed by a company where integrity matters. IBI cares about you, and when it comes to making sure repairs are done correctly, we have your back.

What should you do?

If you think repairs are not being performed correctly please seek out a professional team like IBI Construction. This may cost property owners a little extra up front, however, in the long run, you get the work completed correctly, and the warranty you deserve.

More about dry rot

Dry rot is defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as “a decay of seasoned timber caused by fungi that consume the cellulose of wood leaving a soft skeleton which is readily reduced to powder” The wood is left weakened and brittle, often with a blocky appearance. Dry rot will only affect timber that is damp, typically with moisture content in excess of 19%. For this reason, removing the source of moisture should form the core of any dry rot eradication strategy. There are many ways moisture can get under the exterior clapping or the interior of your property. A few examples are:

  • Windows
  • Doors
  • Interior Drains (kitchen and bathroom fixtures)
  • Damaged or poorly installed flashing
  • Damaged gutters and downspouts
  • Leaking Roof
  • Other Fenestrations (exterior openings)

To truly get to the root of any moisture situation it’s always wise to have it professionally inspected.
